CULINARY ARTS

Training information
Required Information-DUE 15 DEC 17
Welcome Aboard, Basic Culinary Training, 2017

This fast-paced hands-on training will expose each cadet to the diverse environment of the culinary world.  From prep work, cooking, serving, to clean up, you will learn real world skills that will make you proficient in feeding a crowd.

What to expect:
Each day will begin before any of the other cadets from other trainings wake up.  You will be responsible for feeding a contingent of over 100 people, every meal, every day.  You will learn various cooking techniques, as well as meal planning, budgeting, serving, and more.

NO MAIL CALL.  Say your good-byes before check-in.  You will not have contact with your family until graduation.  Due to the fast pace of this training we will not respond to personal emails nor give cadets any personal messages from home, so DO NOT send them.  Also, we may not be able to post any pictures during the training; therefore, DO NOT send emails or Facebook messages asking for pictures of the training to be posted.  Our focus will be on providing the best training and experience possible for the cadets that we have for short time that we have them.  Taking time to post pictures means that we are taking time away from the needs of the cadets and the training contingent.

How to prepare:

MEMORIZE.  This is NOT Recruit Training.  We will not be teaching you information that you should have learned during RT.  As a Seaman or above you are expected to have the Sea Cadet Oath and 11 General Orders memorized.  You will be required to recite from memory the Oath and all 11 G.O.'s upon check-in during your seabag inspection.

PACK.  A seabag list will be posted before 01 December 2017.  Make sure you pack ALL of the items indicated on the list and DO NOT bring ANYTHING not on the list.  Your barracks are cabins with bunk beds.  There are NO lockers or shelves of any kind in the barracks; therefore, you will need to pack all of your things neatly in your seabag, because you will be using your seabag as a foot locker under your rack.

BRING. A good attitude.  We will give you OUR BEST and we expect nothing less from you in return.  We have ZERO tolerance for foul language, bullying, malingering, disrespect, discrimination, or any behavior that is not conducive to learning or in any way brings discredit to the NSCC.

Check this page often, as more information will be posted regularly.

What Our Cadets Are Saying

Q: What do you think makes VIKING Division special?

The characteristics of the individual cadets are what makes our unit special.  Each and every cadet has the passion, motivation, and will to make themselves and our unit better. We all have a strong commitment to the unit, and most of us make the corps one of our top priorities. The pride we possess for the VIKING Division pours out from each of our cadets when we are at drill, training, or other special events. One unique aspect of our division is our pursuit of brotherhood among the cadet leaders. The leadership team makes it a point to bond with one another, which strengthens our combined ability to lead during and outside of drill. This promotes unity within the cadets, because it allows them get to know each other’s characteristics and how they operate, which ultimately promotes a stronger bond between us. "
-PO2 Mitchell Craig, Company Commander
